چکیده

Arabinogalactan-proteins (AGPs) are highly glycosylated proteins (glycoproteins) found in the cell walls of plants. AGPs account for only a small portion wall, usually no more than 1% dry mass primary wall. members hydroxyproline-rich glycoprotein (HRGP) superfamily that represent large and diverse group wall proteins. have attracted considerable attention due to their complex structures potential roles signalling. In addition, they industrial health applications chemical/physical properties (water-holding, adhesion emulsification). Glycosylation can 90% total mass. been reported wide range higher plants seeds, roots, stems, leaves inflorescences. They also secretions culture medium root, leaf, endosperm embryo tissues, some exudate producing types such as stylar canal cells capable lavish amounts AGPs.

Arabinogalactan proteins: focus on carbohydrate active enzymes

Arabinogalactan proteins (AGPs) are a highly diverse class of cell surface proteoglycans that are commonly found in most plant species. AGPs play important roles in many cellular processes during plant development, such as reproduction, cell proliferation, pattern formation and growth, and in plant-microbe interaction. However, little is known about the molecular mechanisms of their function. N...

Arabinogalactan proteins as molecular markers in Arabidopsis thaliana sexual reproduction.

Some of the most important changes that occur in plants during sexual reproduction involve the transition from a sporophytic to a gametophytic type of development. In this paper, these changes were evaluated for Arabidopsis thaliana. The results obtained clearly show differences in the pattern of distribution of specific arabinogalactan protein (AGP) sugar epitopes, during anther and ovule deve...

Arabinogalactan proteins are involved in root hair development in barley

The arabinogalactan proteins (AGPs) are involved in a range of plant processes, including cell differentiation and expansion. Here, barley root hair mutants and their wild-type parent cultivars were used, as a model system, to reveal the role of AGPs in root hair development. The treatment of roots with different concentrations of βGlcY (a reagent which binds to all classes of AGPs) inhibited o...

Glycosylation of arabinogalactan-proteins essential for development in Arabidopsis

Arabinogalactan-proteins (AGPs) are ubiquitous cell wall components present throughout the plant kingdom. They are extensively post translationally modified by conversion of proline to hydroxyproline (Hyp) and by addition of arabinogalactan (AG) polysaccharides to Hyp residues. Two small gene subfamilies within the CAZy GT31 family, referred to as Hyp-galactosyltransferases (Hyp-GALTs and HPGTs...
